Suspect Wanted in Spartanburg Captured in Anderson After Standoff with LEOs

A manhunt for a violent fugitive ended with his arrest on Thursday after a tense standoff in Anderson, South Carolina. Robert Morgan, 41, was wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service for shooting and injuring someone in Spartanburg County in July. He also faced charges of attempted murder, illegal possession of a firearm, and use of a weapon during a violent crime.

When the marshals tracked him down to a house on Holland Drive, he refused to surrender and locked himself in a garage. The Anderson Police Department and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office joined the marshals in surrounding the house and negotiating with Morgan. After about 90 minutes, Morgan gave up and was taken into custody without any further trouble. He was transported to the Spartanburg County Detention Center to await trial.
