TCTC to host Woman-Owned Business Certification Workshop

Tri-County Technical College’s Corporate and Community Education Division is partnering with the Small Business Women’s Center to offer an Understanding and Applying for Woman Owned Business Certification workshop on Thursday, October 17.  This workshop will be held from 2-5pm at Tri-County Technical College’s Easley Campus. Conducted by Janet Christy, a business counselor for the S.C. Women’s Business Center, the workshop will provide attendees with detailed information on the various woman-owned business certification options available in South Carolina, government and private, including the one offered by the State, by the Department of Transportation and by Women’s Business Enterprise National Council. She will cover the following on each certification:  who requires it, qualifications, application and approval process and why it is beneficial. Christy, who is the author of Capitalizing on Being Woman Owned, has been assisting women business owners with certification since 2003.  She will advise each attendee on the certifications that will benefit her.  Materials on each certification will be provided. This includes the application and a list of required documents. Cautions and tips also will be provided.  In addition, once a woman business owner has attended this workshop, she qualifies for a one-on-one counseling session to help with the preparation of her certification application package. The cost is $50 per person.  Individuals can register online with the Small Business Women’s Center at www.scwbc.net/events/upstate.
