TELL Kobie keeping OC clean

A new initiative of the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is keeping the shine on the Golden Corner. Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt says TELL Kobie is a partnership. “We have a great partnership with the Keep Oconee Beautiful Association and they have allowed us to use Kobie, which is their mascot in a lot of their promotional and marketing campaigns. This initiative has been going on for the last few months and I think it has gone extremely well. One thing that is great about TELL Kobie, much like Crime Stoppers, is somebody can report a litter location and remain anonymous.” Watt says reporting litter is easy. “You can very easily go to our website at www.oconeelaw.com, there is a link for TELL Kobie, you click on that link, and it is very simple. You don’t have to give your name, address or phone number, but the only thing you have to provide is a specific location of where litter is and try to be as specific as possible in terms of describing what the litter is made up of.” So far, the litter initiative is working, concludes Watt. “It has been a tremendous program and I think it has gone very successfully. We talk about building partnerships to promote a safer community and that partnership with KOBA is vitally important to make Oconee County beautiful.” Remember to TELL Kobie when you see litter in Oconee County.
