Thanksgiving Day Shooting in Pendleton

A man is facing an attempted murder charge after an argument on Thanksgiving Day, according to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said 30-year-old Kyle Yergeau drove his sister to her home on Pine Knoll Road in Pendleton on Nov. 23. When they arrived, the sister’s boyfriend approached the truck and a dispute ensued. Yergeau then allegedly grabbed his gun and shot the boyfriend in the neck through the open passenger window, deputies said.

The boyfriend, who was unarmed, was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital in critical condition. The sheriff’s office said Yergeau and witnesses were interviewed and several pieces of evidence were collected at the scene. Yergeau is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Officials are monitoring the victim’s condition closely.
