Three Anderson Residents indicted by Federal Grand Jury

A Federal Grand Jury in Greenville recently indicted three Anderson County residents as well as a corporation in Anderson County.  United States Attorney Bill Nettles announces that 62-year-old Nancy Marie Stein and American Screw and Rivet Corporation were charged in a twelve-count indictment with bank fraud.  The maximum penalty Stein could receive for each count is 30-years imprisonment and a fine of $1,000,000.  The maximum penalty the corporation faces on each count is a fine of $1,000,000.  In a separate case, Stein and American Screw and Rivet were charged with unlawful storage of hazardous waste.  The maximum penalty Stein could receive is five years imprisonment.   Each defendant also faces a maximum fine of not more than $50,000 for each day of the violation.  Attorney Nettles stated that 40-year-old Linda Hughes of Liberty was charged with delay of mail by a postal employee.  The maximum penalty Hughes could receive is five years imprisonment.  The third indictment was of 30-year-old Kevin William Pearson of Anderson for delay of mail by a postal employee.  The maximum penalty Pearson could receive is five years imprisonment.  The United States Attorney stated that all charges in these indictments are merely accusations and that all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
