Three killed and Three injured in crash on Highway 11

Three people are dead and three others were seriously injured after a two-vehicle crash in Pickens County, Sunday afternoon. The South Carolina Highway Patrol reports that 25-year-old Megan Mullinax, 14-year-old Kandice Broome and 9-year-old Furman Broome died from blunt force trauma suffered in the collision. The victims were related and lived in the same Greenville home. Troopers said that Mullinax was driving a 1999 Honda Civic that collided with a 2011 Honda Pilot driven by a 16-year-old girl. Her and her two 13-year-old passengers were taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. The crash happened around 2pm Sunday on Highway 11 near West Gate Road, which is close to the entrance to Table Rock State Park. The Highway Patrol says the Honda Pilot SUV crossed the centerline of Highway 11 and struck the Civic head on. All people involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts. The crash is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
