Three killed on SC Roadways over Weekend

The South Carolina Department of Public Safety announces three people were killed on state roadways from Friday, January 17, at 6pm until Sunday, January 19, at midnight. As of January 19, 33 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 36 highway deaths during the same time period in 2013.  Oconee County lists three highway deaths in 2014 compared to zero in 2013 at this same time.  Pickens County reports one highway fatality in 2014 and two in 2013.  Anderson County has experienced one highway death in 2014 compared to zero in 2013. Of the 27 motor vehicle occupants who have died statewide in 2014, 14 were not wearing seat belts. Through midnight January 19, five pedestrians, one motorcyclist and zero bicyclists have died on state roads and highways.  These numbers are preliminary and are based on fatal collisions compiled by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety as of midnight January 19, 2014.
