Thursday Evening Pursuit leads to the arrest of a Seneca Man on Multiple Charges

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Seneca man on multiple charges after a pursuit that covered around 24 miles Thursday evening. A deputy on South Highway 11 observed a Toyota Highlander traveling southbound in the northbound lanes approaching East Spearman Road. The deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop but the Highlander made a sudden turn on East Spearman Road, sped up and did not stop. The pursuit covered portions of South Highway 11, East Spearman Road, Oakway Road, Madison Road, Grant Road, West-Oak Highway, Grans Circle, Church Yard Road, South Return Church Road, Greenfield Road, Barrett Way, Dr. John’s Road, Blackjack Road, Little Choestoea Road, Fire Station Road, Burriss Road, Highway 182, Bethel Church Road and onto Snow Creek Road. Deputies deployed stop sticks at Highway 182 and Bethel Church Road, which deflated the driver’s side tires. Once on Snow Creek Road, the vehicle went down an embankment and came to a stop near the creek. The driver, later identified as 35-year-old Steven Lamar Wilson, initially ran from deputies but was later located and placed under arrest without incident. Wilson told deputies that he had failed to stop due to his license being suspended and that he had outstanding warrants. Wilson stands charged in traffic tickets by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office with failure to stop for a blue light, driving under suspension, and for driving left of center. Wilson also had a municipal bench warrant from the City of Seneca.
