Today is Juneteenth

The 2023 Juneteenth Festival, celebrating the end of slavery in America, will take place on Monday, June 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., but due to the weather, has been moved inside to the Hendrix Student Center at Clemson University. The walk has been cancelled. The festival is co-sponsored by several community partners and will feature events such as spoken word and music performances, local Black history exhibit, virtual tours, author presentations, food, non-profit and vendor tables, storytelling for children, balloon art and face painting. Free public parking and shuttle bus service will be available. Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021. Keep in mind, also, that government offices are closed today in observance of the holiday.
