Today is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office joins other law enforcement agencies nationwide today in celebrating National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. According to the National Sheriffs’ Association, 780,000 police officers in the United States put on a badge and serve their communities everyday. On average, between 105 and 203 officers die in the line of duty each year. The National Sheriffs’ Association is calling upon all citizens to show their support for law enforcement. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office changed its profile picture on its social media sites this week to a picture provided by the Sheriffs’ Association that says “I Support America’s Law Enforcement Officers.” Individuals can show their support by changing their profile pictures as well.
