Tornado Safety Contest Winner

Audra McDonald, a third-grade student from Northside Elementary in Seneca, emerged as the grand prize winner in this year’s Tornado Safety Contest, an event sponsored by Oconee Emergency Services.

The contest, now in its 39th year, saw the participation of elementary students from grades 1-5 across Oconee, with a total of 300 posters submitted for evaluation by a panel of three judges.

In addition to the overall winner, the first and second winners from each grade and those who received honorable mentions were announced by Dr. Michael Thorsland, the district superintendent.

All winners were awarded certificates and weather radios. Cash prizes were also given, making the event a rewarding experience for the young participants.
