Town of Central Now Requiring Face Coverings in Public

Central ‘s Town Council passed an emergency ordinance on Tuesday by a vote of 5-0 requiring the wearing of face coverings in public. Central Town Council Members Paige Bowers and Ken Dill were unable to attend the meeting. This comes on the heels of Clemson’s City Council’s approval of a similar ordinance last week. The town has ordered approximately 1,000 face coverings, which are expected to arrive today for Central police to distribute. Individuals caught not wearing a face covering could be fined $25 and businesses $100. The ordinance, which is applicable inside the town limits of Central, is set to expire August 24.
