Tri-County Upstate sees decline in Unemployment

Good news to report on jobs in the tri-county area of Upstate South Carolina.  The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce reports that Oconee County saw a drop in its jobless rate from 9.3% in June to 8.7% in July.   Pickens County’s unemployment rate fell from 7.9% in June to 7.6% in July.  Anderson County experienced a decline in unemployment from 8.2% in June to 7.6% in July.  The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was essentially unchanged at 8.1% for July 2013. Over the year, the rate has dropped by more than a full percentage point.  Nationally, the unemployment rate declined to 7.4% from June’s estimate of 7.6%.
