Tuesday Afternoon Bomb Threat at Oconee Regional Airport Under Investigation

A bomb threat via email prompted the evacuation and search of the Oconee County Airport on Tuesday afternoon. The threat was part of a nationwide hoax that targeted about 40-50 airports, mainly in Ohio, according to authorities. No bombs were found at the Oconee airport or any other location, officials said. The airport was closed for the day as a safety measure, following the advice of the South Carolina Aeronautics Commission. Authorities are investigating the source and motive of the random email.
