TV Viewing Habits of American Children

America’s kids are watching way too much TV and spending too many hours on the computer. This according to a government report by the National Center for Health Statistics. “Almost all of youth aged between 12-15 reported watching TV everyday and over 90% of youth reported using a computer daily outside of school.” The National Center for Health Statistics’ Kirsten Herrick gives more report findings. “Nearly 40% of American kids between the ages of 12-15 are watching three or more hours of television a day.” Boys are using the computer longer each day than girls, says Herrick. “For computer use, boys were more likely to be using the computer for longer periods of time.” The government report sparked a health fear, concludes Herrick. “If kids spend so much time watching TV or using a computer that their not doing other more active pursuits.” To read the complete report on TV viewing habits of American children visit the National Center for Health Statistics’ website at www.cdc.gov.
