Twelve Mile Recreation Closed: February 19-March 28

Twelve Mile Recreation will be closed February 19-March 28

The City of Clemson and the Clemson Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting several collegiate rowing teams in February and March of this year. These teams will be staying in the Clemson area and utilizing Twelve Mile Recreation Area as their launch point. Due to congestion and safety concerns, the City of Clemson has made the decision to completely close the Twelve Mile Recreation facility for both public and pass holder use from February 19th through March 28th, 2023.

For annual pass holders with gate codes, this code will be inoperable during this time period. For all other patrons, the gates will not take payment to allow entry. The park will reopen and gate codes will once again be operable beginning March 29.

The City of Clemson understands this will be an inconvenience to our visitors, especially our regulars and pass holders, and we appreciate your understanding during this time. Additionally, we hope you will visit some of our other park locations while Twelve Mile is unavailable.

  • For picnic, walking path and non motorized boat launch along Lake Hartwell, please visit Abernathy Park (207 Keowee Trail).
  • For wooded walking paths and lake access, please visit Mountain View Park (340 Mountain View Lane).
  • For motorized boat launch we recommend visiting Mile Creek Park, 757 Keowee Baptist Church Road, Six Mile. (Please note: Fees may apply.)

Those who have purchased 2023 annual passes will be notified of this change and will receive a refund for the 38 unavailable days over the next couple of weeks.
