Two arrested for Murder of Westminster Man

Investigators with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office signed arrest warrants on two individuals in reference to the murder of Donald Lee Davis at 105 Jefferson Drive Westminster on Tuesday. The two suspects are John Murriel Black Jr. and Christine Davis Black. The two are husband and wife. Christine is the daughter of the victim. Both stand charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Investigators believe that an altercation occurred at the residence sometime in the late night to early morning hours between Monday and Tuesday. In the altercation, Davis was stabbed to death and left in the home. Through the course of the investigation, probable cause was established that John Black and Christine Black were responsible for the murder. Both suspects were living with the victim at the time. An alert was given out to all surrounding law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for the suspects who were reported to be driving the victim’s minivan. At around 10:30am on Wednesday, the Hart County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia spotted and apprehended both suspects after a brief vehicle pursuit. Investigators are working with Georgia authorities to arrange extradition of the two back to South Carolina.
