Two Charged with Drug Trafficking in Anderson County

Two people have been arrested on drug trafficking charges after Anderson County Sheriff’s deputies found methamphetamine hidden in fast-food wrappers during a traffic stop on Wednesday. The search of the vehicle, a black Ford Fusion, led to the discovery of over 85 grams of methamphetamine concealed in McGriddle wrappers.

The suspects, Kala Brown and Jason Mauldin, were arrested and remain in custody at the Anderson County Detention Center. Brown, who had given permission for the vehicle to be searched, was previously rescued from a storage container on the property of serial killer Todd Kohlhepp in 2016. Bond for Brown was set at $5,000, while bond for Mauldin was set at $10,000.
