Two Charged with Fraud in Anderson County

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office recently charged two suspects, Calvin Allen and Jasmine Crawford, with financial identity fraud. They are accused of stealing nearly $10,000 from an elderly woman. The incident began when the woman hired Allen to remove trees from her property in the fall. After receiving payment for the work, Allen allegedly returned to the woman’s house, claiming that the check had not cleared. The woman then wrote him a second check, which Allen used to steal her financial information. With access to her financial details, Allen and Crawford paid numerous bills and made a purchase worth approximately $8,000. Following the incident, both Allen and Crawford were charged. The Sheriff’s Office has managed to recover some of the stolen money and continues to investigate the case.
