Two Fresh Start Community Development Corporation Employees indicted

United States Attorney Bill Nettles announces that a Federal Grand Jury in Greenville returned indictments on Tuesday against the director and an employee of Fresh Start Community Development Corporation (FSCDC). Charged in a three-count indictment were 40-year-old Erick Bradshaw, Sr. and 61-year-old Augustina Cabral-Rice, both of Anderson. Both defendants were charged with conspiracy, which carries a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment and a maximum fine of $250,000 and with engaging in monetary transactions, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment and a maximum fine of $250,000. The case was investigated by agents of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, Office of Inspector General; US Postal Inspection Service; Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigations; and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office. The case is assigned to Assistant United States Attorney William J. Watkins, Jr., of the Greenville office for prosecution. The United States Attorney stated that all charges in these indictments are merely accusations and that all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
