Sister station WNEG reports that Toccoa Police were dispatched to Walmart early Tuesday morning in reference to two alleged shoplifters. Toccoa Police Chief Tim Jarrell says that officers apprehended the two women accused of shoplifting and conducted a search. “Search incident to the arrest for shoplifting, officers were able to locate what they believed to be crystal methamphetamine. It was in a bag in a backpack with some other items that had been shoplifted.” Police arrested 20-year-old Kristin Hope Carter of Westminster and 27-year-old Tabatha Nell Pitch of Seneca. According to Chief Jarrell, the women had a large sum of suspected methamphetamine. “The suspected methamphetamine was brought to the Police Department where it was packaged and placed into evidence to be sent to the Crime Lab for testing for verification. In doing so, it is common practice for us to weigh the drugs we seize. The suspected methamphetamine is over 6.22 ounces, which we believe to have an estimated street value of over $13,000.” At the Stephens County Jail, deputies found another ounce of methamphetamine on Pitch, who was subsequently served with additional charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and crossing the guard line with illegal contraband.
