Two Pickens Women arrested for Shoplifting from Seneca Walmart

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested two Pickens County women Wednesday on charges of shoplifting from the Seneca Walmart, explains Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt. “40-year-old Amy Michelle Johnson of Liberty and 33-year-old Stephanie Dawn Porter of Easley were booked into the Oconee County Detention Center. A deputy responded to the Walmart store on Sandifer Boulevard in Seneca in reference to a shoplifting in progress. Once the deputy arrived on the scene, he saw a female store employee and another Oconee County Sheriff’s Office deputy with the two suspects. The deputy was informed both Johnson and Porter were discovered by the store employee in the same stall in the bathroom of the store with opened merchandise packages on the floor. After receiving consent to search two separate bags, one black in color and the other brown in color, the deputy discovered several stolen items in both bags. According to deputies, among the items found in the black bag were a cell phone, several phone cases, and several clothing items. Deputies also discovered that the brown bag was stolen as well. Deputies also report that Porter had taken a buggy with a car seat into the bathroom stall with her. Johnson and Porter were placed under arrest and transported to the Oconee County Detention Center.” According to warrants, both Johnson and Porter are accused of stealing 36 miscellaneous items with a value of around $2,282. According to deputies, Walmart would be seeking restitution in the case. Bond for Johnson and Porter was set at $5,000 each.
