Two Trail Rescues Over the Weekend

Walhalla Fire and several area emergency services agencies responded to two rescues over the weekend. Shortly before 2 pm on Saturday firefighters responded to an injured hiker at Yellow Branch Falls.

The entire incident took about 2.5 hours to complete with about 25 respondents. That patient, a middle aged female, had an injured ankle and was taken to Oconee Memorial by ground, according to reports from the fire department.

Then on Sunday afternoon around 5 pm, crews were called to Stumphouse Mountain Bike Park for an injured mountain biker. Crews hiked in about half mile and found the patient on the bike trail with face and possible internal injuries.

The patient, a young male, was flown by medical airlift to Greenville. The entire incident took about 2 hours, 18 people, and several agencies to complete.

The conditions of both patients are unknown to us at this time.
