Two Westminster Men arrested on Multiple Charges

An investigation into the discovery of drug paraphernalia in a child’s bedroom earlier this week has led to multiple charges against two Westminster men in a separate investigation, explains Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt. “Agents from the Narcotics Unit of the Sheriff’s Office responded to an address on Blackjack Road late Monday morning due to the parent of a child finding drug paraphernalia in the child’s room. Deputies discovered that 19-year-old Anthony Brett Shaw of 125 Blackwell Road had given the child the bag that contained the drug paraphernalia to keep for him but that Shaw wanted the bag back. Text messages from Shaw also revealed that he would get the child marijuana and that he wanted pills. Deputies obtained warrants against Shaw charging him with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Shaw was arrested Tuesday afternoon on those charges. During the course of the investigation, one of the child’s parents showed investigators the child’s electronic device, which revealed explicit sexual texts and talk of drug use. The agents then began a separate investigation, which later revealed that the child’s friends, both juvenile females, had engaged in sex as well as drug use with Shaw and another adult male, 23-year-old Steven Earl Medlin of 206 West North Avenue. The incidents involved two separate females, each age 15, and the activity did not involve the child in whose bedroom the black bag containing drug paraphernalia was found. Shaw was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center on charges of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Medlin was charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.” The case involving two of juveniles will be referred to the Department of Juvenile Justice. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation.
