Two Women Charged in Connection with Murder

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office has reported the arrest of two women, Angel Bellis, 26, and Cassidy Cheek, 21, in connection with a horrific murder that occurred in August. The victim, Phillip Hughey, was reported missing from Williamston in August.

Detectives later linked Jared Tierce and Jacob Barber to his death, alleging that they brutally killed Hughey with a ratchet strap and knife before wrapping his body in a rug. It is alleged that Cheek destroyed evidence by burning the victim’s clothes and Bellis saw Hughey’s body after the crime but did not report it to law enforcement.

Both women are currently being held at the Anderson County Detention Center and have been denied bond. The investigation is ongoing.
