U.S. Chamber of Commerce endorses Graham

This week, the United States Chamber of Commerce officially endorsed Senator Lindsey Graham’s re-election campaign during a press conference at William Barnet & Son, a 116-year old textile manufacturing and distribution company that employs 150 workers in South Carolina. “Senator Lindsey Graham is a true champion for free enterprise,” said Jack Howard, the U.S. Chamber’s senior vice president for Congressional and Public Affairs. “He is a demonstrated leader on issues that will boost economic freedom and job creation in South Carolina and across the country. We are proud to stand with him.” In a letter to Graham, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce said they would encourage the business community to “vigorously support” Graham’s candidacy. “I am proud to have the endorsement and support of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce,” said Graham.  “I will continue working with them to revive our economy and encourage a business-friendly environment where companies can create jobs.  In order to do this, I am committed to getting rid of Obamacare, reducing the bureaucratic red tape, and developing a tax code where capital and entrepreneurship are rewarded.” The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, which named Graham its 2013 Public Servant of the Year Award, was also in attendance supporting the announcement. “The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, South Carolina Chamber of Commerce and local chambers of commerce know that Senator Lindsey Graham is a job creator, unafraid of tackling the tough issues facing this nation.  Senator Graham is the ‘go-to’ guy on Capitol Hill for cutting red tape, protecting South Carolina jobs, and getting things done for our state’s businesses,” said Otis Rawl, President and CEO of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce.  “He successfully fought the union-backed NLRB when they threatened to shut down the Boeing plant and advocated tirelessly for our economic gateway to the world – the Port of Charleston.  South Carolina businesses could not ask for a more accessible partner or stronger advocate than Lindsey Graham.” The announcement is the second major business organization this week to endorse Graham.  His re-election campaign was endorsed on Monday by the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the country’s premier “voice of small business,” for his record of protecting small businesses, supporting new job creation, and co-sponsoring a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution.
