Upcountry Fiber Approved to Assume Control of Oconee County’s Fiber Optic Network

Oconee County Council met last night and approved Blue Ridge Electric’s new subsidiary, Upcountry Fiber, to take control of the county’s approximately 225 mile fiber optic network.

Seneca-based One Tone has operated the network since January 2017. The Blue Ridge entity was approved to take over the county’s lease from One Tone Telecom, and seeks to extend fiber optic access to a larger customer base.
