Update on Copper Theft from sit of new WHS

No arrests have been made and the investigation continues into the theft of a large amount of copper from the construction site of the new Walhalla High School.  The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office reports that the official dollar amount of copper taken is unknown; however, Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw said last week it is in excess of $50,000.  Investigators currently do not have any persons of interest in the case at this time.  The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is still asking for tips from the community through CrimeStoppers by calling 864-638-STOP or texting a tip to 274637.  If information leads to an arrest in the case, a cash reward could be given.
