Update on New WHS

Construction on the new Walhalla High School in the Picket Post Community on Highway 11 is progressing smoothly, according to Oconee County Schools Assistant Superintendent of Operations Dr. Michael Thorsland.  “It is certainly strating to look like a school building now.  It took us a while with the bad weather we had or the wet weather we had over the summer.  Jack Webber, who is our project manager from Tehel and Brian Dikeman, our architect, gave a report to the Board recently and they both reported that things are going very well on the site.  They have made tremendous progress over the last couple of months since the weather returned to a more normal pattern and we are excited about the project and it is progressing very nicely.” The new Walhalla High School is scheduled to open in the fall of 2015.
