Update on search for New SHS Football Coach

Numerous people are interested in the Athletic Director and Head Football Coach positions at Seneca High School, tells Principal Cliff Roberts. “There is potential that we could combine those positions with one person or we also may hire more than one person, you never know, we are going to see how that works. When you deal with hiring new coaches, one thing I have found is a lot of coaches don’t want to deal with the athletic director side, that is a very time consuming job and some of them feel like they would rather just focus on the football solely and then there are others that want to be both. So, we are going to have all the options available to us as we move through this process. We have received upwards of 75 applicants and the job hasn’t closed yet. We are going to go through the month of January doing interviews, we have first and second interviews to do and we will involve community members and stake holders in that process as we always do and then if everything goes well and happens the way we plan we hope to name a candidate at the Feb. 8 board meeting.” That meeting of the Board of Trustees for the School District of Oconee County takes place on Pine Street in Walhalla.
