Upstate seeing Mold

This summer’s wet weather is causing mold to move in across the Upstate.  The smell is the best indicator of mold growing inside your home, however the next time you see what you think is a stain, take a closer look because it could be mold. According to the Centers for Disease Control, mold can cause lung inflammation and aggravate allergies and asthma. If you are allergic to mold, your eyes may be overly watery and itchy. Doctors also say watch for trouble breathing and sinus pressure. If your breathing is labored, you need to go to an emergency room.  According to the CDC, you can remove mold from hard surfaces with a solution of one-cup bleach and one-gallon water. If you have mold under your carpet, in the insulation or wallboard, it will be harder to remove.
