USGS: 50 Earthquakes In SC Over The Past Year

Five earthquakes were reported Monday near Elgin, according to the US Geological Survey. The first was reported at about 1:30 a.m. and was a magnitude 3.3. The second one was reported at 4:39 a.m. and was a 1.6 magnitude. The third quake, reported at about 5:10 a.m., registered at 1.79 magnitude. The fourth quake registered a 2.1 magnitude and was reported at 6:05 p.m. The fifth was recorded at 11:55 p.m. with a magnitude of 2.9. The agency said that in the past year there have been around 50 earthquakes recorded in South Carolina.
