Vape is New Word of the Year

Oxford Dictionaries is out with its Word of the Year and the winner is vape. The word can be used as both a noun and a verb. Casper Grathwolf is the President of the Dictionaries Division at Oxford University Press. He says the word, vape, really grew in popularity this year. “Vape is the word that is used to describe the experience of smoking an e-cigarette.” He says the Word of the Year is an opportunity to reflect back on the language that defined the year. “It is a window into understanding ourselves and looking at the experiences we had that year and the language we used to describe them.” Another contender for the Word of the Year this year was budtender, which is a person whose job it is to server cannabis to customers.
