Voter Registration Deadline nearing

The deadline to register to vote for the Nov. 4 General Election is Oct. 4. If you are already registered to vote, you do not need to “re-register”, says Oconee County Voter Registration and Elections director Joy Scharich. “That deadline is coming up this Saturday, Oct. 4. That means if you are not registered, if you plan to vote in November go ahead and take care of that this week. If you are, you don’t need to do anything, you don’t need to re-register that sometimes is confusing but the deadline is Saturday. Applications through the mail need to be postmarked Oct. 4 or prior. You can go online to www.scvotes.org; find a printable application that you can mail, fax or email to us. You can also do online voter registration at that website, which is a great tool, as long as everything is dated Oct. 4 or prior.” Once again, to vote in the Nov. 4 General Election you must be registered by Oct. 4. In person registration can be done between 8:30am and 5pm weekdays at the Oconee County Voter Registration Office, which is located at 415 South Pine Street in Walhalla. The office will not be open on Saturday, Oct. 4. Once again, online voter registration is available at www.scvotes.org.
