Walhalla FFA hosts Nation TV Show

Fishing University is America’s original “How To” fishing program. It airs on the Outdoor life channel and has been on television for 29-years. Their “Back to School” segment is one of the show’s greatest successes and is a great tool to teach and inform high schoolers about careers in the outdoors. Each year Fishing University visits 13 high schools across the United States, including recent visits to New Hampshire, New York, Main, and Tennessee. On Oct. 8, the Walhalla High School Chapter of the FFA hosted Fishing University at Walhalla High School. The hosts, along with professional fishermen, Troy Morrow, Bill Siemantel, and Clemson University Professor, Dr. Jeffery Hallo spoke on personal drive, ability, and education, and encouraged students to stay in school. Their message to teens is that if they work hard, they can achieve anything they want. Josh McCall, FFA Advisor said about the visit, “Having Fishing University here was a great experience for our students. They not only got to meet some professional fishermen and receive expert lessons, but they also heard some real world advice on how to pursue a career in the field of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences.” The program featuring Walhalla High School is set to air in the winter of 2016 on the Outdoor Life Network.
