Walhalla High Football Coach resigns

After a 1-9 season, Walhalla High School Head Football Coach Jeremy Grogan tendered his resignation. The School District of Oconee County announces that it accepts the resignation from Coach Grogan. In his resignation letter Grogan said, “I have very much enjoyed my time coaching these young men both on and off the football field over the past four seasons but feel that this program needs some new leadership in order to rebuild and see great success in the future. I will always be grateful to the players that I’ve had the privilege of coaching, to the supportive community and parents, and to the Razorback family for the opportunity to coach at my Alma Mater. I look forward to what the future may hold for Walhalla football and I wish the Razorbacks every success. My heart bleeds purple and I’ll forever be a Razorback,” said Grogan. Grogan will remain a teacher at the school. Walhalla High School Principal Steve Garrett thanked Grogan for his service to the WHS football program. “As assistant coach for two years and then coach for four years, Grogan was very committed to the position and to our program. We thank Jeremy for his dedication as head coach for the past four years.” Walhalla High School Athletic Director James Powell added, “The resignation has been accepted and a search for a new head football coach will begin immediately.” Powell will work with Garrett and the assistant coaches to keep off-season programs going in preparation for the 2016 season. Powell says, “We appreciate everything Jeremy has done for the football program over the past four years. He has worked very hard to provide instruction and guidance for our athletes.”
