Walhalla Man arrested in Homicide Case

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Walhalla man on murder charges in an incident that occurred Monday morning near Walhalla. 30-year-old Caleb Nathanael Linart was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around midnight Tuesday evening on a temporary custody order until warrants could be obtained. Deputies responded to a West Broad Street address around 8:50am Monday morning in reference to a female found dead on the floor of a bedroom in the home. There was no evidence of a burglary or forced entry into the home. A family member discovered the body and the Sheriff’s Office began an investigation. Linart and the victim were involved in a relationship, according to deputies. Investigators gathered information through evidence and interviews and were able to charge Linart with murder in a warrant that was served after 3pm Wednesday. Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis identified the victim as 27-year-old Alana Carpenter of Seneca. The Coroner has ruled the death as a homicide via manual strangulation. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation.
