Walhalla’s 2024-25 Budget and Goals

At a recent workshop, Walhalla city administrator Celia Myers presented preliminary totals for the 2024-25 budget, totaling $8.29 million. This includes $3.6 million for the general fund and $4.69 million for the enterprise fund, comprising water and sewer revenues. The council reviewed the city’s current revenues and expenses, with the general fund’s expected revenue for 2023-24 at about $3.69 million and the enterprise fund’s at $4.77 million. Myers emphasized the importance of aligning expenses with revenue, akin to personal finance management. In preparation for the budget, the council discussed the city’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats at a retreat. They also decided on top five goals for 2024-25, including a balanced budget, competitive employee pay, completing ongoing infrastructure projects, increasing parks and tourism revenue, and completing the city’s comprehensive plan. The proposed budget will be detailed further based on the council’s direction.
