Watch for Students going back to School

As students go back to school motorists are once again encouraged to slow down and watch for children waiting on the bus. Oconee County Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael Thorsland says student safety is always the number one priority, especially on the first few days of a new school year. “We want to educate students but our primary concern has to be student safety because students can’t learn if they are not safe and part of that is traffic safety on that first day, so that is something that can’t be emphasized too much.” Motorists remember never pass a stopped school bus, if the stop arm is out, you must stop on both sides of the street.
