Water Line Leak Repair in Westminster

Officials in Westminster have announced that a new boil advisory may be necessary as early as Monday due to repairs being made to a water line leak on Highway 76. The Utilities Director, Kevin Harbin, has informed the mayor and council that the repair work, specifically targeting a 14-inch line, is scheduled for Monday, which is President’s Day and a school holiday. Harbin highlighted one of the challenges faced by the crews: the large cast iron line makes it difficult to procure replacement valve parts.

The City Administrator, Kevin Bronson, stated that customers will be notified about the work via phone calls. He also mentioned that the city has not ruled out the possibility of issuing a boil advisory…

Bronson clarified that the advisory does not necessarily imply that the tap water will be unsafe to drink. Rather, it serves as a precautionary measure advising residents to boil water vigorously for at least one full minute before using it for drinking, cooking, or making ice, to ensure safety.
