WCA hosting Shining Stars Summer Theater Camp

The Walhalla Civic Auditorium is inviting kids interested in acting and theatre to attend a fun, educational summer camp.  Walhalla Civic Auditorium executive director Bill Chisano tells more about the “Shining Stars Summer Theater Camp”.  “In the last couple of years we have gotten more involved in producing plays.  This upcoming season, if you look at the schedule, we are doing seven.  In conjunction with that one of the things that we are trying to do is get young people, ages 6-13, interested in live theatre.  One of the ways to do that is get them into the Auditorium and teach them a little about how theatre works.” Chisano tells more about the Auditorium’s first summer camp.  “We decided to do our first summer camp. It will be from Monday, July 15 to Friday, July 19, from 9am until noon, each day.  Basically, what we will do is introduce children, ages 6-13, to theatre and all the stuff that goes along with it.  We will show them make-up, costumes, dance, acting, theater etiquette, lighting, props and staging.  We will show them how theatre is different from TV and movies.  Ultimately our goal is to get kids up on stage doing something.” To learn more about the Walhalla Civic Auditorium’s “Shining Stars Summer Theater Camp”, visit www.walhallacivic.com or call 864-638-5277.
