Weed-Eating Carp Introduced at Broadway Lake

Today, at Muldrow Park on Broadway Lake in Anderson County, the SC Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) plans to introduce 450 weed-eating carp. This initiative aims to combat the invasive weeds discovered in the lake. The exact time for this operation is yet to be confirmed as there are multiple stops scheduled for the day. However, the County is prepared for a potential late afternoon slot. This project is a collaborative effort between Anderson County, Friends of Broadway Lake, and SCDNR. To address the weed problem, SCDNR proposed three solutions to the County. After conducting a survey among the Broadway Lake residents, the carp option was chosen. This method has proven effective in the past when dealing with a similar invasive weed issue.
