Westminster Awarded CDBG Funds for Downtown Streetscape Project

The City of Westminster has been awarded $750,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for a downtown streetscape project. This initiative will revitalize Retreat Street and parts of Main Street, marking a significant advancement in executing the Downtown Masterplan. The plan, finalized earlier this year, received financial support through a grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission. CDBGs, provided by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, are allocated biannually by the South Carolina Department of Commerce. Westminster is among the 15 communities selected for the grant in the current cycle. To complete the project, estimated at $1.3 million, the City must contribute approximately $550,000 as a matching fund.
