Westminster Man arrested for Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor

On Friday, April 27, the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Westminster man on multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor and incest charges. 32-year-old Justin Turner Cheek of Point Road was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center on three counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the second degree, three counts of incest and one count of criminal sexual conduct with a minor in the third degree. On March 2, a deputy spoke with an individual by phone in reference to reporting a sexual assault of a minor. The investigation was turned over to Sgt. Tim Rice, the Child and Elder Abuse Investigator with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office. As the investigation continued and evidence was gathered in the case, Sgt. Rice was able to determine that Cheek had sexually assaulted the victim on multiple occasions between January and July of 2017. Based upon this evidence obtained, Sgt. Rice had probable cause to obtain arrest warrants against Cheek. A combined $112,500 surety bond was set against Cheek, who is also required to wear electronic monitoring as a condition should he be able to obtain bond. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation.
