Westminster Man arrested for stealing from Walmart

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Westminster man Tuesday on breach of trust charges after reportedly taking money from his employer, the Walmart in Seneca. Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt gives details. “38-year-old Kenneth Dwayne McElreath, whose address on warrants is listed as 1238 Greenfield Road, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 8:39am Tuesday morning. A deputy responded to the Walmart store on Sandifer Boulevard in Seneca the afternoon of July 3. According to the incident report, the deputy was informed that McElreath was an employee and an assistant manager at the store and that between March 1 and July 3 of this year on the days when McElreath was managing that the end of the shift money count was coming up short. Video surveillance from the store revealed that McElreath had taken money from the money bags and the safe on different occasions. According to the incident report, McElreath was terminated from the store on July 3 after a meeting with management.” Warrants charge McElreath with taking around $5,000 in cash. He was released from the Detention Center on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.
