Westminster Man arrested for Unlawful Neglect of a Child

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Westminster man on an outstanding arrest warrant on charges of unlawful neglect of a child. According to warrants, 24-year-old Kenneth Daniel Jones, who has no fixed address, was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center after his release from the Pickens County Detention Center where he was being held on unrelated charges. Jones was wanted as part of the eighth Operation Infinity Drug Sweep, which began on Oct. 30. Narcotics agents from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office were contacted by the Department of Social Services on March 17 regarding a child neglect complaint. According to warrants, drug screen conducted on a 15-month-old child on March 3 revealed that the child tested positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine and marijuana. According to warrants, Jones, who is the father, refused to take a drug screen. Jones also has a hold placed on him at the Detention Center for authorities in Banks County, Georgia.
