Westminster Man arrested in Stolen Vehicle Case

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Westminster man on charges related to a stolen vehicle. Acting upon an anonymous tip, deputies responded to an address on Mize Drive regarding a found property call. Deputies found 33-year-old Joshua Wayne Griffin at the house and he stated he had been working on the stolen vehicle in question, which was a 1991 Jeep Comanche that was taken from an address on Highway 123 near Wells Highway. After running the vehicle information and verifying that the vehicle was stolen, Griffin was arrested. During a search, two small bags of methamphetamine were found on Griffin. The total amount of meth found was less than one gram. The vehicle has been returned to the owner. Warrants charge Griffin with one count of grand larceny in regards to stealing the 1991 Jeep Comanche, valued at around $6,000 and with one count of malicious injury to personal property for damage to the steering column, bumper and interior of the same vehicle. Griffin is also charged with one count of petit larceny for taking aluminum and vehicle parts in the same incident, which occurred at Clemson 4 Wheel Drive Center on Highway 123. Griffin is also charged with possession of tools commonly used in commission of crimes. Finally, Griffin was charged with possession of methamphetamine. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation.
