Westminster Man arrested on Contraband Charges

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Westminster man with contraband charges after drugs were discovered on him at the Oconee County Detention Center. According to deputies, 32-year-old Mark Eldon Staton was transported to the Detention Center for an outstanding bench warrant after being found guilty in court on breach of peace charges back on January 13^th.  Due to his acting suspiciously at the Detention Center, a search of Staton took place.  According to the incident report, Staton produced a glass pipe and a bag that contained a white powder substance, which according to a warrant, was a quantity of cocaine.  Staton is being held on a $5,000 surety bond on the contraband charges.
