Westminster Man arrested on Domestic Violence charges

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Westminster man on domestic violence and weapons charges after a welfare check at a residence on Hopewell Church Road. Last Friday, deputies were dispatched to the residence and learned that a domestic violence incident had occurred at the address on July 9. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that 20-year-old Joseph Kenneth Martin had pointed a firearm at the head and chest of his girlfriend during an altercation at the residence. In warrants obtained by deputies, Martin stands charged with domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, pointing and presenting a firearm and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. He remains at the Oconee County Detention Center on a $40,000 surety bond on all charges.
