Westminster Man arrested on Grand Larceny Charges

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Westminster man last week on grand larceny charges. A deputy spoke with a complainant in regards to a larceny. The complainant stated that he had purchased 10 steel culvert pipes valued around $250 apiece. The complainant had information that 47-year-old Phil Kerry Hamby of Westminster had taken the pipes from property located at a separate address. As the investigation continued, warrants were obtained against Hamby charging him with stealing the pipes from the complainant. Hamby was released from the Oconee County Detention Center on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond.
